KATG always talks about how people should have to do a year of waiting tables or some such tip-based job. It improves character. Judging by Josh's demeanor, I say everyone should experience cerebral palsy for a year. Perhaps in the future they could give it to you and then like, you know, reverse it.

This blackface thing seems like a huge fucking deal.

Simon Mjundar (the pommy food guy) was on WTF recently talking about how into the 1980's there was blackface on Brit TV. It's also been on Oz TV, where it created a fucking huge baawww. We had a variety show called "Hey hey it's Saturday", and a group of guys did a blackface routine back in the 80's (I'm guessing) which was hilarious. They came back for a "best of" show in the 90's or 00's and the professional whingers went fucking nuts.

I'm not saying that blackface is acceptable in the US. I'm saying that it doesn't have the same cultural or racial sting elsewhere.

Recently Best&Less (clothing store) ran an ad here in Oz that showed dark skinned models eating watermelons. The internet went berserk. One fuckwit commented "Can you imagine if you ran this ad in the US???".
They fucking didn't run the ad in the US, they ran it here where black and white people can eat watermelons equally.
OK, the black people probably stole their watermelons, but that's another story.

Shockingly this was only a few years ago. Harry Connick Jr was a guest on the show and he quite clearly understood the implications. He stormed off the set and the show was forced to apologise. He only came back so he could voice how disgusted he was. If they didn't know this would piss people off then they're fucking idiots.

Aussie comedian Steady Eddy has CP and made a name for himself here in the 90's. His Wiki page references Josh.

lol that's right. I remember that Connick fiasco. And yeah, Hey Hey was never a bastion of quality programming to say the least

But I still put a lot of the hoo hah down to people believing they should be upset rather than really connecting with the underlying issues and being genuinely upset.

I couldn't give a fuck if black people want to paint themselves white and act like wankers, or white people do the reverse. Or maybe whites & blacks can band together and paint ourselves yellow and make fun of the Asians.
