it's also now telling them you still have to treat them with dignity because christ would have done so. that little bit has been lost in all the screaming.
i disagree with your latter point entirely. deep change is a process. |

Lol. Gross!
My daughter is 11 and going through puberty. It's so weird. I don't want to be oppressive or close-minded but I am not going to talk to her about sex. It makes me physically sick just to think about it. I told her mom, 'Look, you have the discussion and get her on birth control. I'll pay for the pill, I'll tell her how evil boys are, and I'll remind her that I will totally disown her if she gets pregnant in high school... Love is very conditional. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. |

My daughter will be 9 in Jan. I will answer any questions she has honestly - she asked me what tampons were for about 2 years ago while we were in a CVS and I told her the truth, she fake fainted in the aisle but she at least got the truth.
Chemda used to talk about letting her daughter know that she didnt need to rely on a boy to make her feel all those good sexual feelings -- I think I will approach my daughter the same way. I already had the porn on the computer talk with my sons, ages 14 and 17. I didn't ban them, I just told them that if their sister would be able to accidentally access it, they should make sure they delete all links and history. Now they have their own laptops so it is not an issue. I just dont want to walk in on them - and so far so good. I will take it as it comes and I have some ideas on how I will handle certain issues when they arise.

Nowadays, porn is a lot like weed. Back in the day, weed was mild and you got a little high. Now it is so potent you can experience psychosis and have a panic attack. Porn used to be a woman fucking a man. It was very mild and the woman had so much hair, you couldn't really see anything. Today, porn practically goes right up into the vuh-jay and doesn't stop until it hits uterus! Also, the gaping anal porn? OMG. That shit is vile. I think when it comes to sexuality you want to be open but also maintain that 'parent' roll where you're warning them of the dangers. Masturbate, yes. You still gotta warn them that it affects how they view women, how they cope with stress, etc....right? |
