If you're not a college graduate it's actually pretty difficult to become knowledgeably well-rounded. It's nothing to do with your level of intelligence, either, it's just a matter of exposure. Reading is great, if you take the time to do that - though most aren't - but the writing, analysis, and discussion of topics you get in classes is also important. Anyway, go to college. |

This is such a recycled argument on here. We get it, artists are against college and yes we should all know by now that Sparrow believes colleges are only there to make money. The fact is that in most technical occupations college degrees make more money. In teaching jobs degrees get you tenure. In the business world if you don't have a degree you don't get into management.
The first two years off college are supposed to bring you up to a higher level of education while allowing you to figure out what you really want your major to be. Without English 101 how do you figure out the fundamentals of writing the 20 page paper due for your 400 level class. I'm going for my degree in Information systems, do I really need Macro economics right now ? Probably not but it will help if I start my own business. Having the all around knowledge helps in more ways than just getting the degree. "A typical bachelor’s-degree recipient earns 80 percent more than a high school graduate during a 40-year career, more than $500,000 over a lifetime." Jeffrey J. You're supposed to pay $45,000 to figure out what you want to pay money for?
