The way I find it easiest to justify animal testing is that these animals are bred specifically for experiments. You can get mice that are more susceptible to certain cancers or have specific genes (they wouldn't otherwise have) that are the subject of the experimental research. Surprise, surprise; these don't occur naturally and without these there wouldn't be certain medicines or some diseases/conditions wouldn't be as well understood. Science needs these and as far as I'm concerned, that makes it okay.

Every time you quote a statistic that backs up your argument; you are utilizing data that came from somewhere. A lot of it is gathered through science that is conducting tests on mice.
I'm not saying it's not horrifying, but it is how we humans learn more about our world. |
