beats mixed with Beats sound great through Beats, i guess. outside of that, meh. there's not a lot happening besides demand driven by perceived prestige. it's a great way to get mugged, though, if living dangerously is your thing.

Bose > Beats
Its a shame that a musical producer of Dr Dre's caliber put his name on such a shit product |

when the fuck did beats become the new jordans?? Hip hop culture is so monotone it finds one thing and then everyone does it |
Beats by Dre are played! I use the Sony headphones. And my girl turned me on to them!
Sony MDRV55/BR DJ-Style Headphones, Black/Red 4.2 out of 5 And I'm not blasting my show! That's how much I thing they are good! |

I'm Skye and that was just the best! I loved hearing one of my favorite friends on my favorite podcast. Just awesome.

Just want to make sure everyone's seen this video, since Jay-Z's shenanigans have been the topic lately. I guess it's from 1997. NSFW!

I agree with Chemda that the new iPhone earphones are great- hated the old ones so used to use Klipsch S4i. They have the iPhone control and the earbud is oval shaped- a nice fit (especially since it comes with a few different sizes). I've never seen the Dre Beats but I have Bose noise cancelling earphones and they are fantastic- well woth the money for airplane traveling and babysitting. When my kids were small they got me through many a night of stupid kids shows on TV. They would be way too dangerous to use outside though.

My main reason for not wanting the beats headphones is that I much prefer the small in ear ones - how do people carry these big bulky headphones around with them all day without either being super annoyed by their size or accidentally crushing them?
I like the 20-30 EUR in ear headphones like these but I am not brand loyal at all, right now I have Philips: http://src.discounto.de/pics/Angebot...441_detail.jpg Nice and soft to work well for my ears, cancels enough noise but still can be worn while walking around outside (no car = lots of time in public transport) and cheap enough that I don't mind replacing them once a year after they inevitably break due to wear and tear |
Rhianna's songs aren't even good. The lyrics are shit. Maybe it's the beats you guys like?
Good Day NY said Dre owns 25% of the company but, I mean, that's Good Day NY. Those guys are, as Chemda might say, "goobers". The old iPhone headphones were made for alien ears. They would literally make my ears bleed and ache if I tried to use them for a day (I wear headphones ten to sixteen hours a day at work/commuting). I've been using cheapy $15-20 skullcandy headphones and they usually last about 3 months which I figure is worth the price. I'd love to invest in a "nice" pair of $100-300 headphones but my problem is, with all the use, the first thing to go is always the plug that goes into the phone (gets bent, one bud goes mute, static etc) and id be super pissed to have that happen on a pair of non throwaways. Any suggestions for noise cancelling ear buds? |
Chemda must love Lauren
I cant imagine riding a subway without headphones Its like going into battle without armour |
Despite being hopelessly outnumbered, I put worth it on the poll because I don't think Apple would buy them if they were junk. Myself I don't understand putting a lot of money in headphones, I'd rather spend it on audio equipment or speakers. Like the snazzy surround sound speakers I bought for my computer.
I like Rihanna's music and she's a hot woman. Disturbia is a good example, but I did hear some autotune going on. |

Good headphones really are worth the investment. Im a cheap bastard but was instantly glad I got em. If you can wear headphones at work, commute, or just wanna listen to podcasts all day / tune ppl out- bose are a must. Also, the little headphone clip to shirt thing: its next level. |
Solange / Chuy
Saw this in the Huffington Post today:
Standard Hotel Fires Employee Who Leaked Solange And Jay Z Fight Video Regarding Chuy - I thought his porn past was old news? I'm almost sure Chelsea has mentioned this years ago. Unless he did porn AGAIN. |
I've used Bose and they are good. Now I have Klipsch in-ear headphones I use. They're great. $120. Not noise canceling, but they seal in my ear well and comfortably and they have several tip sizes.

You do know they make Beats earbuds right? They even come with different sized rubber covers for a perfect fit. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/18/aza9uzaz.jpg Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the new iPhone earbuds. Best redesign they ever made, but the Beats have surprisingly good noise cancellation and great bass...it's really surprising the difference in audio quality to me anyway. You can often find a good deal for them online, my husband got his pair at nomorerack for $50. Yup. I am still kicking myself for not buying a pair too. I really thought it was just hype until I tried a pair. |
I have the Beats wired headphones (as opposed to earphones). I picked them up used on ebay about a year ago for about $100. They do noise cancel pretty nicely, have pretty good range and bass, and they fold up for travel. They also have a microphone with sound adjustment on the cable. The cable also detaches from the headphones which helps when you catch the cable on things. I wouldn't pay $400, but I do think they have enough quality and bells and whistles to make it worthwhile to buy them at or under $100. My only complaint is they press a little too tightly on your ears which can begin to hurt after awhile.
In regards to volunteering and your friends paying you to do laps or other strange things rather than just give money to research, that was a Doug Stanhope bit. I just watched it on Netflix. He also talks about how ridiculous it is for people to be out 'raising awareness' when instead they can be out taking action themselves. His example is a guy and a dog with broken bones lying in a ditch and someone just pointing at them and shouting rather than actually doing something. He sort of has a point. |

Beats are most people's first pair of real headphones (as in not $5 ones). They're not bad, but it's far from worth the price. People are used to using dollar store headphones and so they think Beats are really amazing when it's really just mediocre. Fairly comfortable, though. But when the most notable quality about your $400 headphones are than they're comfortable...
Companies like Monster and Bose are mostly just selling their brands. When I see a gold plated HDMI cable, I actually get upset. Complete scam. Best pair of headphones I've used are ATH-AD700s. Kinda big for my head, though. |
