Keith challenged us to find a text written by her... nothing. Nada. All her linkedin mentions are untraceable or vague.
This is just sad. |

Sparrow is wrong in this case, motivation doesn't matter for psychotic killers. The Newtown and Aurora killers fixated on kids and Batman fans. Other killers fixate on videogames. These people kill because they are mentally ill. The gist of your argument is this: Misogyny against women is terrible and is not at all acknowleged. It can lead to mass murder if we don't change our society. The gist of my argument is this: Our society does not do enough to identify and help psychotic individuals. It can lead to mass murder if we don't change our society. I apologize if I'm misunderstanding your argument. If you don't think that you're advocating that misogyny leads to mass murder, then I think we're on the same page. I think misogyny is terrible too, but I don't think it's at the root of this mass murder. Understand that I am not a pick up artist, nor have I ever even hit on a woman in a bar. I like to believe I'm a feminist in that I truly believe that our society should treat women and men as equals, from pay to chores in the household. On a different level, thousands of women are killed by men in this country every year, and that's a problem that cannot have enough light shown on it. |

It's possible there's nothing to find. There's quite a few companies paying people to set up fake online identities to write positive product reviews and political 'support' or 'backlash' pieces in comments sections of online mags and newspapers, seemingly from ordinary members of the public. Astroturfing.

Also, you start yourself off in a losing position when you dismiss misogyny as a "pet" issue. As Margaret Atwood puts it: "Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them". Pet issues are rush hour traffic management and graffiti removal and keeping public spaces free of litter. This is literally life and death. This is true in extremist regions of India, Pakistan and Afghanistan and it's true in Canada, New Zealand and the US, and it's been true for a long, long time. |
