Words are a way of expressing ideas, thoughts and desires. The words people put together can create coherent or incoherent sentences. You can see examples of both in this thread.

Further, words can convey specific ideas or generalizations. It's the generalizations that I'm frustrated with. People should be more specific with their concerns over issues with food instead of generalizing problems. Saying "I don't want harmful chemicals in my food" is meaningless. Who does want harmful chemicals in their food? Of course, no one wants harmful chemicals. It's meaningless to say that you don't want it.

Let's stop using extremely general words like chemicals and processed and start talking about actual ingredients and manufactoring processes that need to be changed. Imagine a law that banned "chemicals" in food. That would be impossible.

If we're going to have a discussion about our food, we should talk about specific things we want changed. Everything else sounds like it's coming out of the movie Idiocracy where no one knows the meaning of the words they're using.

I don't want ingredients that aren't easy to pronounce. How about that?

Salt would make the cut, Ronald McDonald.

So, I guess you're never drinking beer again?

I'd happily drink a more natural beer in exchange for more natural food.

But natural is a word to me. (See more on 'natural' and 'words' above.)

The word "natural" is meaningless. It's too broad and generalistic. Arsenic, cyanide and ammonia are 100% natural.

You can't legislate against the use of processing food, adding chemicals or require that everything be natural. The entire food supply would cease to exist. Conversations that only use natural, processed and chemicals don't go anywhere. It's fun to talk about, everyone will agree with what you're saying but it goes no where.

I said you aren't drinking beer because it's a word you have trouble pronouncing. Apparently, you can't eat bears either.
