Also the 38% thing is murky since the first paragraph says 0-2 yards and then it talks about 0-2 feet. From the looks of it, i think he meant 0-2 yards. I'll concede though 0-2 years is still pretty damn close, and from the looks of it seems to be closer than the distance the cops were from the guy in the video.

Okay, sorry if this is rude, but you're either not trying very hard or just have poor reading comprehension. 0-2 yards is referring to the number of shooting incidents, and 0-2 feet is a subset of that (1188 of 1719 incidents, or 69%) as can be seen in the accompanying PDF.

I don't think this absolves the police officers in this case completely, there were different ways they could have approached the situation. I just want to make it clear that the argument that they should just shoot a leg when someone with a knife is approaching them is an unfair one. Maybe if we had Robocop...

Haha you got me there, looks like my reading comprehension was poor. But yards instead of feet doesn't really change the point, between 3-7 yards (10ft) their accuracy would have been about 17%.

Per all my down south gun toting friends cop and concealed carry training is to place two rounds in center of mass, cops are not snipers and should not be expected to shoot out a toe or hand.
