Getting free drinks at a casino; instead of sitting at the slots posing with a quarter in my hand I just change $20 and walk around with a bucket full of quarters. That way your not tethered to a slot machine.

The reason it's so important to tip waiters is because most make less than minimum wage (which is legal because they supposedly make more for tips). Stiffing waiters will cause cost them food on their table.

That said, a Starbucks employee. They typically make more than the average fast food employee AND at Starbucks specifically, they get benefits for working more than 20 hours per week. Tipping is nice everywhere, but for some jobs it's just a way to feel good about yourself.

Hey all, I just caught on to KATG. Started listening at show 197, been laughing ever since.

Show 207 was long but pretty hilarious. Props for shitting in a casino lobby Keith! If they're gonna take people's money, take that to! Hah.
By the way, I went to high school with Jonah. Kinda cool/weird to see that someone I graduated with is on a podcast i just started listening to.

They both sucked. The guests need to realise they are guests on the show. How many times did they plug that fucking show? Bullshit. Especially the guy..He ruined about 5 of Keith's jokes and then started with his which were NEVER funny.

The bits where katg talked were awesome, If I coulda skipped past that other girl talking then I would have.

I would like a tip too. I "work" as a register biscuit at a supermarket. Its one of those monkey jobs where you still have to think. Thats why I only go when I absolutly have no other way of making money. Maybe I could talk to patrice about getting some work. Having said that, Where I'm from you dont tip. No-one does. Not in resturants or coffee houses and people still make minimum wage. When I went to the US I couldnt work it out and dont even get me start on the tax being not written on the price tag. So if you dont like tipping, Australia is a great place for a holiday.

Although there is no tipping in Australia (except token tipping.. at a bar maybe $15us a shift...) The reason behind that is that people working in the bars get paid a good $15us an hour. iProd in america barmen get LESS that minimum wage. In Australia the tip is built into the price of everything you buy. So is the tax. It's a lot easier!

Agree. I just spent a week in London. Wasn't expected to tip anyone (although I did once when the barman went way out of his way to give us directions, including calling his girlfriend at home for help). Great system.

Plus, London is one hell of a town in which to drink.

This is something we definately need in the states. For all the info we have on food and whatnot in the interest of informing consumers they love to let everyone try to figure out their own tax. How many people could possibly do that in their heads.

When I was overseas I was shocked. At first I thought all the prices were pretty similar prices until I found out about the VAT taxes in most countries.

Here's an example. A pair of jeans costs $40 over here and the euro equivalant of $40 USD over there, BUT the jeans over there have a 20-30% tax included in that price. So here's the deal. GAP knows a normal person will only pay $40 for a pair of their jeans, so regardless of included taxes it has to say $40 on that pricetag for a consumer to buy it. Thus, Americans are getting screwed. Were our prices forced to have tax included we probably wouldn't even be aware we were paying tax on the things we buy.
