Tim: The Scandinavians don't have Shark Tank or American Idol, they just all work for the common good.

Keith: That's nice but what did they invent? Chocolate and wooden shoes?

Bucho: [Nerd slurp] Loudspeakers, kevlar, Lego, batteries, insulin, ostomy bags, fiberscopes, aerosol cans, carbonated water (Hi Chernda), paper clips, safety matches, the ability to record sound on tape, Ikea ... they also had cellphones before America did (although just between you and me Japan was first).

10 Innovations You Didn't Know Were Swedish
Record Number of Danish Inventions in 2013

I'd go on, but what am I? A Scandanavian Inventions salesman? Don't be ridiculous.

Chemda's name has nothing to do with intelligence it has to do with how adult brains perceive language.

Chemda should just spell her name phonetically, but even that would be difficult since Chemda's name contains syllables not found in the English language.

Even Danielle over Daniel, although Danielle is not as a unique name as Chemda. If someone's brain has heard Daniel for their entire life a name like Danielle can be very difficult cause the brain just drops the last part of it.

I remember Chemda saying that her mom would always pronuce Keith's name as "Keet." Because there is no "th" sound in Hebrew. It's the same thing in Chemda's situation.

It's not inconsideration, it isn't ignorance, its science. Cognitive... neurology... brain... science... stuff.

But I feel like I said this stuff already.

Whenever I don't directly respond to you, its only because I have no clue whats going on. Just wanted to clear that up so I don't come off as rude.

People who say her name wrong are normal, then? It's the natural brain of things?

Are the people that get it right geniuses?

Or: What if Chemda's the one that's wrong, and everyone else is right?!

Native English speakers with no exposure to the Hebrew "Ch" sound are normal, yes.

It's the reason for all accents. Now I'm positive that we had this conversation before. It went exactly the same way. So I guess there is no point of having it again.

I know its a silly thing to say, "don't feel bad," but just understand that it's just a fact of how the human brain works. Unless someone has been practicing to say your name they are going to probably fuck it up. Or say it with an american accent.

There's no such 'native english speaker', as anyone who has heard a native english speaking teenager use the wordless single syllable 'ch' version of 'whatever' will know.

I know we had this conversation before. And this is where you end it: JUST before you acknowledge that I must be a genius that I'm able to recognize and repeat ANY name told to me.

I'll go along with your stupidity if you just admit I must be absolutely brilliant.

I have had one completely fucked up version of my name, and thankfully it was when I got my oil changed and it was printed on a receipt that I still have. The attendant entered my name in their database as Janielle Hontgocherry. How he didn't second guess that horrifically terrible name I don't know.
