2120: Selfie-loathing
Scarlett Johannson uses Keith’s made up word ‘Brumski’ in correct context; Chemda’s wedding dress; In Touch magazine photoshops Bruce Jenner as a woman; women playing football with men; terrorists caught in Europe; the all-white Academy Awards and reviews of Birdman, American Sniper, and Taken 3; the heated poll results to the mom reposting her daughter’s selfies

I'm not following why this girl's mother's post is such a big deal. But at this point, it sounds like it's an agree to disagree situation that won't be settled anytime soon.
But I have another question similar to this topic ... What if it was another family member of hers that posted the same picture collage? A cousin or an aunt/uncle, maybe? I made a collage for my cousin the day of his high school graduation, before he walked in his ceremony. I also posted it to Facebook, praising his accomplishments and whatnot. Would this post also be in the same category as weird as the mother's post is? Or is the mother's post only weird because it seems like she's "pimping" her daughter? In that case, I take Visa, MasterCard, and weed. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1421624540.078924.jpg |

Someone might have already made this point, but...
About the selfies, I'm guessing the daughter had posted plenty of pictures without the heavy makeup or her hair done up, but the mother didn't repost (do you "repost" on FB?) those pictures. Instead she cherry-picked these pictures, took the time to make a collage, and posted that on her own Facebook page. She's making her daughter's attractiveness a part of her own persona and living vicariously through her. I have some experience with a mother who tried to live vicariously through her daughter and I can tell you that it's a shitty way to treat someone. It devalues that person and your relationship with that person. It's not that different from being "friends" with someone who you know you can always borrow money or bum a ride from. It's not necessarily abuse, but it's not good parenting and I think it's fair game for Keith's "Look At This Weirdo" segments. |

If Chemda tells us to stop listening to the show. Do we get our VIP money back?
Otherwise, it's clear that Keith's issue with the mom and not the girl. |

Keith and Chemda are arguing two different points; Keith feels that the mother posting photo's that seem to highlight the daughters attractiveness are in-congruent with posts that brag about the daughters scholastic achievements.
Chemda feels that Keith is reading too much into the photos and is adding in an extra sexual layer on to the photos and therefore Keith's original point is moot (mute?) because the photos don't highlight anything, the woman in the pictures just happen to be attractive. Keith is judging the mothers actions, Chemda is defending the daughters pictures and feels that the mothers actions are irrelevant. I don't agree with Keith and although I agree with points that Chemda made I don't think they were totally relevant to Keith's initial point being; the mother's actions were strange. On top of that the poll doesn't match the discussion. It should be simply yes or no. The "I agree with ..." should be left out. Since that is the part that is fucking up the results. |

This podcast has alway shit on everyone’s views, and Keith and Chemda have both continuously spouted off comments and opinions that would offend just about anyone. But they did so with humour, and believe it or not.. grace and professionalism. This new found feminism that Chemda is trying to promote on the show is causing a distaste for the show - for podcasting, humour and professionalism. She does *not* speak for all women. When a *man* is being a realist and making an opinion it does not mean they are representing all the men of the world. Chemda was outright disrespectful and accusatory to her co-host. I love a good fight on the show, but this was gross. We all know Keith isn’t a sexist or a woman hater - he’s using comedy. Chemda of all people should know this.
Keep your passions and your opinions and fight for what you believe - but if you want a podcast to fight for woman’s right.. maybe “Keith and the Girl” isn’t the best place to do it. Thanks for making KATG uncomfortable and gross to listen to. |
