I feel that we've made some real progress in this thread.

the guy behind the screen? could be anyone. doesn't matter what size he is. could be stalking me. his ISP could be fake, so i don't even know where he is. how would i know? how much information does he have on me? does he know people i know? /is it/ someone i know? is he communicating with me on other sites with other screen names; are there more people involved? how many? did he google my address? does he know what my house looks like? does he have folders on his computer compiling pictures of me across the internet? is he doxxing me? are my pictures elsewhere? is he tracking my moves across the internet to plan a physical attack? how would i recognize the threat? my computer is in my home; he is now in my home. that is a violating feeling.

i'm an internet troll myself. i know how dangerous i can be when i don't have to worry about being physically able to do something or be known.

I was talking about this last night with Mrs H and this was almost exactly what she said. My response to her was that I don't think a twitter rape threat has ever (or has rarely, never say never) resulted in an actual rape being committed, but I can totally see where she's coming from, the threat alone is enough to have you shaken for a good long time.

I think it's disgusting how rape threats have become a standard way of abusing someone online from a segment of our society now, these people are utter scum.

Some celebrity/Internet personality did this recently. A preteen boy was sending her graphic rape tweets and he found him on social media, found his mother from there and sent her a compilation of all the things he wrote to her

To be fair to Justine Sacco, she wasn't an up-and-coming comic, but her tweets WERE all in the same vein and sense of humour. Everyone's sooooo offended these days.

Show us.

Also, it's funny that you of all people are saying, "everyone gets sooooo offended..."
