Got Chemda's July comment after she explained it. That was a great little moment though.
On the blind thing, I agree with Keith. I'm a music man, I make it/sing/listen to it most of the time. I feel like I'd go crazy if I couldn't hear anything, more so than if I were blind. I haven't listened to the previous episode yet, but some other points: -I feel like blind people get more sympathy, dunno if this is necessarily true though. -If you're not already married/in a relationship, you wouldn't have to worry about not being physically attracted to your potential partner if you're in love with everything else about them! -Less explaining needed with strangers. They see the shades/walking stick/guide dog, they get it. Unless you wanna hold a big sign around your neck saying "I'm deaf!". -Podcasts, obv. I guess the only major downsides are that travelling for yourself is basically pointless, interacting with people is a little more awkward, and getting around would be harder than if you were deaf. Oh, and I guess you wouldn't get to see what aliens look like if they touch down on Earth or whatever. |

I think being blind would rob me of more of my independence in terms of moving around and taking care of myself.
Yes obviously being deaf makes it much harder to communicate but I travel a lot and in countries where I don't understand the language I might as well be deaf because I can't talk to anybody to ask them questions but I can still read a map, look up information in books/internet and if necessary write something down to show to somebody else. |
