That's a dumb argument. Is it really that hard to tell when someone's using the term in a musical sense vs. a derogatory sense?

And for the record, no one uses the term "retarded" when talking technically about a piece. You say a piece "slows down" or there's a "ritardando/rallentando", or "retards". No one says "this section is retarded" unless they're making a shitty joke.

While the term isn't nearly as offensive as the n-word for example, any time I hear someone say it, it just takes me back to the 5th grade schoolyard and brings to mind the kinds of kids who would use "gay" interchangeably with "retarded". It usually makes you sound dumb. That being said, when Keith says it in his hammy New York/Philly accent, it has a certain musical quality to it.
