the lengths people go to to pick and choose what parts of the [holy text] they want to believe is so relentless. I have religious friends who are like "I take Genesis this way. There weren't any days before he created the Sun and Earth so those 7 days he took to create the Earth could have been the trillions of years it took for the Earth to be made" or friends who are shomer negiah but will still hug gay dudes.

Why not make up a whole new thing? I guess the Scientologists already did
