My boyfriend and I opened a joint account but we don't put all our income in it. We put equal amounts every month and we use the joint account for common expenses like rent, groceries and utilities.
It's a great way to share expenses, but still have your own money so we can buy each other gifts, or pay our own personal expenses.

Having only one bank account is super silly.
I had a coworker recently ask me whether I could purchase a gift for his wife at Amazon as if he ordered it his wife would see it both from the bank statement but also they share the Amazon account so she would see the email confirmation for the order ...

It was CDs actually - OMG do you think I'm on a terrorist watch now? What if I'm never allowed to enter the US again? Oh the drama
