And from what I just learned on wikipedia also more fun, I don't know why I am constantly surprised we do things differently ...

In Germany, Father's Day (Vatertag) is celebrated differently from other parts of the world. It is always celebrated on Ascension Day (the Thursday forty days after Easter), which is a federal holiday.
It is tradition for groups of males (young and old but usually excluding pre-teenage boys) to do a hiking tour with one or more smaller wagons, Bollerwagen, pulled by manpower. In the wagons are wine or beer (according to region) and traditional regional food, Hausmannskost. Many men use this holiday as an opportunity to get drunk. According to the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, alcohol-related traffic accidents multiply by three on this day.

Like Keith I'm am Horrible with direction. I get turned around easily and if I enter an area that I'm familiar with from a different angle It takes me a long time to recognize it. So if I'm use to entering an area from the south and I enter from the north it may take me minutes or even a few different visits from the new angle to recognize.

The worst part is that people seem to be amazed by this and always try to quiz me just to see what I'm going to say, its condescending and infuriating. It's like going out with someone with poor reading skills and pointing to random billboards and sings and asking, "what does that say? Really, no clue huh? Wow you really are bad at this." over and over again.

My dad is in his 70s and for the first time since we were children my father has been calling my brothers and I on our birthday. It's weird. I guess it's like a "I can see the end of the road" kinda thing and he wants all his kids to like...like him or something.

I talk to him when we happen to be together but, no I didn't call him yesterday or for his birthday back in...January?
Last year I got my first tattoo on Father's Day and wanted to make THAT tradition but funds are low :(

Imagine you had kids and you were the kind of dad that you hope you would be. Sure your kids don't like Crue, and you've been an imperfect human, but there's love, mutual respect, and understanding. Some of us have that, and we called our fathers.

"Uh, so sorry, but, uh, sorry to have to say this but, uh, oh I don't know, some of us like OUR parents..."
