Great point. I should find out who writes the show notes. (Wink.)

Oh dang, I think you went straight from mentioning you won $5 to talking about Brock and I conflated the two. Do you remember who else you bet on?

By the way, here's Mark spitting fire after hearing the news:

I'm sure I did.

I won the 1st match, lost the 2nd - 4th, then won with the fine ladies.

I just listened to the show. Keith was only talking about the guy that was shot, and what he thought of him personally. He wasn't talking about the police and what actually happened. That's the perspective of someone who's completely removed from the injustice that took place. The problem is that the injustice is the only thing that matters.

When something like this happens, the person's history is brought up to make people feel more comfortable. Whether it's the 1960's or 2016, the idea that police are just targeting black people sounds impossible; there has to be some reason for it. Once their history becomes public, the outcome feels justified. Intentional or not, Keith was following that mindset.

He understands what happened, but doesn't recognize that detachment from why he was killed is what's offensive. For example, he said he would rather that this guy was killed some other way, but that he's glad he's dead, and it's good that it was a bad person. You have to have a very narrow, dispassionate point of view for that to make any sense.

If someone reads an article like this and suddenly feels differently about what happened, it proves the point:
