> a thing you admittedly don't understand
I'm pretty sure I never admitted any such thing. What do I not understand? It seems clear to me that AA / high school theatre (which was a big part of my high school experience) / LGBT support groups / etc / etc are good and everyone in this thread agrees so... ...and whatever The University of Chicago was writing about, whatever you want to call it, is different. And, in my opinion, not good. Where am I confused? Also, what about that letter is "widely contested?" P.S. I'm a liberal. I vote for D's, generally, and am pro-LGBT-rights, pro-same-sex-marriage, pro-choice, etc, etc. |

Seamus, so you're saying that Ellison's definition of "safe space" is just not a thing? If that's true then I've nothing to complain about here (and that's fine).
However, Google news search for safe space returns the following so I'm not so sure: Brown University president: A safe space for freedom of expression - Washington Post-18 hours ago - In the clash over freedom of expression and the supposed coddling of American college students, safe spaces and trigger warnings are held up ... Safe spaces, trigger warnings are controversial topics at Ohio ... - The Post-15 hours ago 'Stop! You're in my safe space:' Undermining education, one trigger ... - UConn Daily Campus-13 hours ago The Campus Debate Over Trigger Warnings Is at an Impasse ... - Featured-Slate Magazine-17 hours ago etc |
