> Seeing as KatG haven't put up a creative commons license,
> anyone can take their shit and do what they like with it. You have this completely the wrong way around. Anything without an explicit license is fully protected by copyright law. Creative Commons licenses are ways to give up some of the powers all works get from copyright law to allow users to copy it around themselves under various restrictions depending on the license version. However the rest I agree with -- nothing stops Curry mentioning your site just like nothing stops Google serving ads with their results. But it's probably better to have people coming over from there even if they're a bit confused by the site layout than to not be mentioned, I should think. BTW there is some good liberally licensed music around outside of Curry's podsafe thing. Check out http://jamendo.com eg http://www.jamendo.com/uk/?f=mp31&id...aylist&t=track |

> SMALL CLAIMS Court
Urg no man they're doing KATG a favour if they send over new listeners, no need to think about how to attack them. Just stay away from their contract and keep growing. |

More publicity if the media hears about a court case over Podcasting, than any link on a web page. NY Media would have a field day with the headlines The little guy vs the podfather. The podfather vs the podgod Plus small claims court would force AC to defend himself. No Lawyers. |

That contract is gross. Aside from any benefits Keith and Chemda get from being listed on the Podshow website for free, it's just tainted by the dispicable business practices the Podshow engages in.
The monthly bonuses are retarded. Why even bother with a $40 bonus? That just shows how low on the spectrum this podshow compensation package falls compared to other media outlets. Podshow makes a sizable investment in their shows? Bullshit. They're taking on an existing show. All they're doing is some basic housekeeping by moving the show to their network, and we all know that the costs associated with this are minor. They spend nothing on research, show development, etc. They make almost no investment in the show. Termination of a contract via email? Pussies. They can't even bother to make a phone call. What a bunch of bitches. How long is the Podshow non-compete agreement for? I'm guessing for the life of the producer. You'd think someone would have to be of unsound mind and body to sign this piece of shit. But you know, I can kind of see how someone might jump into it without thinking. I mean, imagine you go out to Podshow HQ, meet Adam Curry, he presents you with this contract and makes a bullshit little speech that makes you feel like you're a rock star signing a record contract. Next thing you know, he owns you and there's nothing you can do about it. I have to give his some credit. He must be a pretty good salesman to convince people to sign this shit. |

I think "Independant Contractor" is a legal term and carries certain Tax provisions. It also pretty much says that Podshow doesn't send any portion of your paycheck to the IRS, you have to do your own taxes.
But yea, its a load of bollocks. |
