I voted 'appropriate' but maybe consider your audience next time. I've never been camping without guns, but I also wouldn't consider a paper towel roll to be a home defense weapon.

BB guns are pretty normal for camping? You shoot cans. What is so weird about that? I had done that as a kid. Last camping trip i shot bow & arrows at a target instead. I didn't even grow up rural and this isn't a crazy thing to consider.
