According to the news report (I'm in Michigan, so I saw more), they are supposed to send out ambulances and police EVERY time. The operator is fired, and the family went out and hired Geoffery Feiger (The lawyer for Kevorkian).

It's really sad when a kid is yelled at for doing the right thing. 911 operators are supposed to be trained to respond immediately. Unless it's a cell phone, the address pops right up on the monitor. You know what, send out the cops EVERY TIME! If it's a prank, then the person gets charged, if it's not, then you've saved a life.

The 911 caller thing with that kid really upset me! I was so pissed off cause I know that there are people that do that job and do it for the right reasons and are not like that. I dunno, maybe things are a little different in England - if anything the brits are far more polite!

Anyway, I read this blog of a 999 (UK version of 911) call taker. Hopefully, this will restore any lost faith anyone has in these people that do that job for the right reasons - to help people. But it also looks at the bullshit they have to go through as well in dealing with the stupidity of some people.
