i think it's not the conversation to be had. i think if we are to focus, we focus on the crap shit treatment of people in custody and the fucknut disgusting state of our detention spaces.

OK. Let's talk about this specifically. We agree the detention spaces are terrible, let's move past that.

What actionable steps can we take to change this?

Of our justice system... If cops were at minimum held accountable (like "civilians" usually are) for killing unarmed citizens, that's a good start.

if we're going to think long term, curb the school to prison pipeline with increased access to after school programs, healthcare, food, and education for low income kids.

reassess sentencing for non-violent crime.

i disagree with a fine system; it favors the wealthy. i'm more inclined to accept restitution in the form of community service. we expand what that means and use it to further non-profit driven local goals.
