Alcohol Ban in Nebraska

The county in Nebraska that is banning alcohol is across the state line from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota where even the possession of alcohol is illegal. That is how bad the alcoholism problem is among the Native Americans that live there, that they banned all alcohol. The people crossing the border to drink were the majority of the economy in that NE county. the Lakota have been trying to keep their residents from drinking for over 100 years with the help of the Federal Government. Unfortunately, addiction is stronger than the law. Another fun fact is that unemployment runs between 85 and 95 percent on the Reservation. 97% live below the poverty line. This reservation is roughly the size of Connecticut. Just some facts to think about.
