i have a friend that thinks only men should be able to hold elected office, and that women should never have occupational authority over men. we met in college. she thought this for religious reasons. she also thought that mothers shouldnt work, and optimally would homeschool.

i was like "why the fuck are you geting a B.A. then?"

I think this is a good law.

See, I'm torn. On the one hand, I have friends who had a better home school education, and are as a result more successful now, than I am with my public school education. I was taught creationism in public school. On the other hand, my understanding is that homeschooling can be used as a cover for abuse, or educational neglect. Or just teaching straight up awful things to the child. On the other other hand, those things happen in public, private, and religious schools as well.

It's actually funny. In my biology class, they legally had to teach the controversy. However, in my Psychology class, I was taught evolution, because we learned about the development of the brain. So... fun times.

I had something similar happen in my biology class, though it was unofficial. In my 10th grade biology class I was being disruptive during a lesson about evolution because I was an Evangelical Christian shithead. The teacher made me stay after class and gave me some Intelligent Design drivel when the other kids weren't around. After that I didn't cause problems in that class.

To this day I don't know if she was secretly into ID, just trying to shut me up or both.
