Trump was the only candidate who was publicly denouncing the status-quo in a way that spoke to them and they projected onto him a man who would solve things their way (much as I honestly did with Obama in 2008.)
They were also deeply fearful of HRC for valid reasons. They would regard anyone who voted for Clinton as supporting terrorism and a neoliberal new world order. Which isn't untrue.

They distrusted mainstream reporting on Trump, believing - accurately - that he is often misrepresented, which allowed them to ignore valid criticisms by retreating into defensiveness. When they saw that I wasn't trying to attack them, they were willing to denounce Bannon and Sessions.

I'm sure they could be called racist in that they had unexamined biases (which can be said of most humans), but at least intellectually they supported equality. I believe that in approaching without assuming racism, I was able to get more people opposed to evil and that attacking would have forced them to defend it.

These are excuses.

Everyone distrusts the government.
Everyone distrusts the media.
Everyone distrusts Hillary Clinton.
Every side is misrepresented.

These people did what white people have done time and time again. They choose to blame their troubles on the presence of people of other races "taking their jobs" or whatever else. They stood behind the slogan "make America great again" knowing exactly what it meant.

Their "economic anxiety" is racism.

Somehow the "working class" of every other race were able to not be "deceived" by the con artist. Just somehow... It's miraculous...

Despite the fact that literally every other social group have 10x's more reasons to distrust all the things you mentioned.

I'm over trump voter apologist. These people aren't victims. White people have been cutting off their nose to spite their face for racism since the beginning of America and probably beyond.

I'm not interested in coddling the feelings of people who don't care if I live or die.

I avoid socialist because they are just as racists as their cousins who are Republicans. They just think they are better cause they read Malcom X and have one black friend.

Black socialist are also annoying because they are often just like their white counterparts. Often telling their family and friends "the blacks just aren't smart or educated enough to know what's best for them." "I'm a special black tho"
