Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta.A pure masterpiece. If you've ever written anything, Lolita will make you weep with comparative shame.

And in the end, as Humbert goes to end it all, he hears the laugher of children, their innocence, and comes to know what he has done.
As I approached the friendly abyss, I grew aware of a melodious unity of sounds rising like vapor from a small mining town that lay at my feet, in a fold of the valley...."and then I knew that the hopelessly poignant thing was not Lolita's absence from my side, but the absence of her voice from that concord." Fucking brilliant. Last edited by william; 05-26-2006 at 11:33 AM. |

As far as I know, wasn't lolita a movie before it was a book. Before I saw the movie, I wanted to read the book, but had no knowledge of its existence, but I'm a poor researcher... I'm a Thomas Hardy fan, Tess of the D'urbervilles...good book, very suggestive.
