You're like a reverse fact checker.

Nobody said that Dustin Hoffman was in Silence of the Lambs.

FAKE NEWS!

Behave.

Just want to clarify that Net Neutrality is about keeping the internet fair and open. The Trump administration is trying to repeal Net Neutrality and the protections it provides

The FCC passed the repeal effort even though the only parties in favor of repealing Net Neutrality are big corporations who want to solidify their monopolies.

The repeal still has to go through a few steps before it sticks. It’s really really important that it doesn’t because as the guest pointed out it’s a free speech issue. It’s not so much “oh I have to pay extra to use Twitter”, it’s “the only websites that load for me anymore are Fox News, and no one can read my blog or see my Tweets because I can’t pay the same as Fox can to Comcast” or that Keith and The Girl will have to pay Comcast or no one will be able to download episodes anymore.

Repealing Net Neutrality is the internet equivalent of having Citizens United. A dollar is a vote, and corporations get unlimited secret votes.

It’s really really important not to muddy the water on this right now because people need to speek out against it while the internet is still a place that allows that kind of discussion and gives regular people that kind of voice. Listening to the show it sounded like you were saying Net Neutrality is the opposite of what it is.

The only sites that really have to worry about throttling are the really high bandwidth ones. There's nothing to be gained by fucking with all the low bandwidth stuff because it's a drop in the bucket.

Sites that are built on streaming and get shitloads of hits per day might have to pony up a little bit extra but YouTube/Netflix/Hulu are making fortunes right now and sucking up a major portion of the infrastructure. Under net neutrality, it's illegal for operators of said infrastructure to do anything about it or share in those profits.

The water utility doesnít share in Starbucksí profits from turning tap water into to overpriced coffee. And they donít have the right to have ownership in Starbucks and then shutoff water supply to Blue Bottle or Phils or any local coffee shop.

The idea that the first step isnít so bad so repealing essential protections is ok to allow is really short sited. If they repealed the 1st ammendment you wouldnít be arguing that corporations/politicians arenít going to abuse that that power too much on day one.

The profit motive you describe is actually a really great argument for how once enacted Comcast can limit bandwidth (and therefore access) to the sites of any politician that runs on a platform of reinstating Net Neutrality.

If they can favour Netflix over Hulu like the internet was a magazine owned by ISPs(Comcast, etc.) then they also donít need to be unbiased politically.

first things first:
Emma, you wanna be my boyfriend for a weekend? i'll let you open my doors. *wink*

check
[ ] yes
[ ] no

secondly, yes to acknowledging we all have gross fantasies. surprise! i like jerking off to asian lactation porn with a head canon that there's a secret facility where young sex slaves are bred and when they get pregnant they go to a special wing where rich businessmen and schoolgirls suck on their tits. they then go back into normal rotation when their milk dries up, obvs. and this goes on for generation after generation. whatever. am i contributing to sex trafficking by making up stories for myself? i don't know.

Thats bullshit
The 'operators of said infrastructure' can already charge me for how much data I use a month. But it's none of their fucking business what I use that data for.

Net neutrality repeal will mean that new entry into the market get prohibitively expensive. How can a new service pay to be included into one of the packages that get preferential treatment?
What if I want to use Threema for their better encryption but the only available messenger with decent speed is WhatsApp because Facebook pushed their gigantic influence onto internet providers?
This is about free speech

Like I said in another thread, the new release schedule doesn't change things for me since I auto-download them anyway, but I don't understand why you would remove/replace downloads. I auto-download because I feel stressed out about missing out on content. KATG has VIP but there are a few other shows that have taken down or censored episodes. Is this because Libsyn hosting has gotten more expensive or something like that?
