Is the "new" studio right at the top of the stairs?
That could be the difference. Sometimes it's creepier that way, as if the stranger coming up the stairs would be even more of a surprise if he doesn't have to walk down the hallway first. You would have less chance of hearing him.

Or maybe the feng shui of the room is off.

I often get "alarmed" too. I'll be so focused on something or just in my head, and things will shock me a little.

I turned on the live feed Tuesday and heard Chemda prank calling the housing office in her old man voice. After a few minutes she gets parnoid and says, "Are they tracing us?" and hangs up abruptly. I guess she was scared they see everything scumbags do... Love all your shows. Peace.
