I saw some of this episode live, and some of Chemda's facial expressions were things I'd like to have on a t-shirt.

Thanks for persisting in explaining the tone-deafness to him. It seemed like he might be listening and having it sink in a little. Maybe. We can only hope.

(Also, "I mean, ha ha, I don't know good art from bad art!" and a few sentences later, wishing so hard he could label the art as bad. Awww.)

I know so many people like this.

They are exhausting because you can tell they aren't shit people but they're too fragile to admit they might be wrong.

That said, I appreciate Chemda's patience and emotional labor because I used to be one of those people and my patient friends and larger social group changed me into a person who gets to angrily roll my eyes at people like this.

Not on purpose (in relation to leaving my toothbrush at a boyfriends place)

When Jared started up on his justification for his tweets it became clear he really hadn't put too much effort into thinking about why he feels under attack by the concept of privilege.

Save me from white dudes whose only complaint of suffering is that "hot girls don't like me" or "I'm not getting enough comedy spots". My cousin is scared to make the drive between New Orleans and Atlanta because the majority of the drive is through Mississippi and Alabama.

Also why is it so much easier for me as a black women to acknowledge my class and hetero privilege. I'm so confused as to why white guys are so godamn offended. Fucking snowflakes. Yes privilege exists and we all benefit or suffer depending on our identity. Instead of whining about it, how about you fucking help. I hated him. Throw the whole comedian away.

I heard this quote the other day and really like it in arguments like this:

“To those who are accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.”

Say it again!

I've made this drive a million times.

I10-->I65-->I85-->I20

I'd say 80% of the drive is through "the black belt" of Alabama and other similar areas of Louisiana and Mississippi. So she's good if she's fine with poor rural black folks. Even the white folks she sees are likely cajun/creole (literally a place called Creola, Al) til she reaches Montgomery. They are busy cause it's crawfish season lol

Why am I writing a 2018 black travel almanac? Cause I ain't got the kind of privilege where I can ignore the demographics of the places I drive through.

But hope that's helpful. I'm a Mobilian currently living in Atlanta.

It seems to me that a lot of pretty women in this thread are getting upset at confronting their own privilege.

You sit down, and you sit down right now. Sit down extra if you don't get how that's so gross and ignorant. Sit down super double extra if you knew that and this was an attempt at a troll or sarcasm.

It does seem that some people will find any inane excuse to verbally attack people who protest.
Jared was saying that the people on the march looked like they were using it as a photo opportunity and that they are too well turned out. In England when people march the criticism is always that they should get a job and have a bath.
It seems that whichever way they go they can't win. Would not showering for one day and only ironing their t-shirt be acceptable to you Jared?

So much hatred on here towards Jared. I like him as a guest and he always sparks funny and interesting conversations with Chemda. At least it’s not an echo chamber when Jared is on. The worst is still if the guest is silent and uncomfortable with topics (Urbano), at least Jared isn’t that.

He was making a joke about jareds reference to hot girl privilege. I think he's ok to stand back up.

I dunno... tone is hard to hear in text but it sounded like he was trying to prove Jared's point
