Religion is kinda like when you get out a relationship with someone that messed with you mentally. You might not even realize it until your sharing thoughts and having people agree with you that your feelings are valid and you are not in the wrong. Talking and hearing about it repeatedly helps you heal from the bad feelings and grow stronger emotionally as it re-enforces your thoughts and feelings.
Some of my family asked if I'd go to a church service with them last year. In the past I might have danced around declining, been apologetic or polite, and gone into an explanation about why. Because I've had how I feel talked about more and therefor I was at a different place mentally, it was nothing to me to reply confidently with just a "No" and nothing else. My family's amazed reaction to how casually and matter of factly I refused made me realize the change in myself I hadn't been aware of. Keep voicing your thoughts Keith. There are a lot of quiet people that benefit from it, even if it isn't immediate or obvious to them. Last edited by bluenova; 12-21-2018 at 07:05 AM. |

Sesame Street moving to HBO rubbed me the wrong way for just this reason. a thing about Sesame Street is that it’s locally produced in a number of countries to reflect those communities’ children’s needs; there are muppets that focus on hygiene and AIDS and girls rights to education. our American children need muppets to help deal with Daddy’s in prison or at war or Autism and now homelessness. which means tnere’s a big enough problem with poverty here to warrant it. the kids it’s talking to DON’T FUCKING HAVE HBO. flying in the face of it’s mission to supplement most those most needful, they’ll have to wait a season before it drops to public television. they’ll have to ask the rich kids about it.

I got into it with my MIL about her mother. I said "every dollar that goes the church is dollar that goes to covering up sex abuse and every butt in the pew goes to legitimizing sex abuse." She couldn't argue with it but also was like" please don't bring it up over christmas"
My husband and I's agreement is that we won't start anything, but we will finish it. Last edited by AstoriaGirl; 12-21-2018 at 10:00 AM. |

Yea. I commented a little early. My wife tore her acl playing soccer and sounded like how Chemda went down. But if it is an acl it is clearly more also.
