So, not that it matters, but I took it as John Murray's mom was at a party at a neighbor's house. As is the case in more ruural places, there was some amount of wood between her house and the neighbors, probably a few minutes walk if you go in a straight line, but since it was dark and she was drunk she got turned around.

I think he said she was at a neighbor's house and I just filled in the rest of the details with assumptions. That's why I found it not so shocking. But that pedo dad cruising for sex while his kids are around? Fuuuuuck
