I vote that is ironic. Irony is when something is the opposite of what conventional wisdom would have you think would happen. Like when a factory that makes fire extinguishers burns to the ground. Irony is not something that is inconvenient or tragic. Rain on your wedding day is lame, but it is not ironic. Good advise that you decide to ignore is bad decision making, but it is not ironic.
