Keanu's just too dang lovable to really buy as a killing machine. He was born to play innocents like Johnny Utah, Ted "Theodore" Logan and Neo.

His adorableness doesn't roooon the John Wick films per se but it does hold them back from being all they could be if they'd cast someone who's more convincing than Keanu as a hard, jaded mofo, like Jason Statham, Vin Diesel or Michael Cera.

I get it now. Just feels like 1.5-2 years ago if it were 90% critics, 40% audience you would've said "clearly its fucking great and critics are up their own ass."
