It's a shame I don't have a way to set it up to only like HALF a post.

To be fair to mayonnaise, when I look at the basic recipe it doesn't describe something which tastes the way I remember mayo tasting before I turned my back on it. I generally like vinegarry malarkey so it's possible I was rooned by shithouse commercial brands fucking it all up by adding sweeteners or some such bollocks.
Then again, it appears Chemda has science on her side: https://www.popsci.com/mayonnaise-disgust/ |

Mayo is delicious on French fries, turn it into Aioli and it gets even better or maybe be fancy and get a delicious Hollandaise or Béarnaise. But it’s super fatty so of course it’s not an everyday thing?
Ketchup is meh, I don’t hate it but I don’t request it Mustard can be so many different things from sweet to grainy to super sharp - how can you hate all of them? Hot sauce depends on the application and I am a wuss and can’t take the super hot stuff but I never would have thought to use a creamy sauce like mayo and substitute it with a spicy hot sauce - isn’t that very different applications? |

I meeeeeean, I do dig an aioli, which to me is basically an unsweetened (aka not sickly) species of mayo. Really it comes down to whether any type of sauce is sweet - sugar is for breakfast and dessert, I don't need it rooning my lunch or dinner.
With hot sauce I rooned myself for years by growing up eating a ton of spicy Indonesian food (Mum's fam are evil Dutch colonists who lived on Java and adopted the local cuisine) and then adding even more fire to whatever Mum or Oma served up with various hotter sambal varieties to the point that by the time I was out of my teens I was bored by any lunch or dinner which didn't end with me feeling like I'd just eaten 27 live scorpions. It's only in the last few years I've backed off the fire enough to get why anyone even likes Italian or Japanese food, which for so many years with my dumb scorched Earth taste buds were way too bland to me. |

Mayo isn't sweet? Sugar isn't in the recipe and none of the ingredients are sweet? How do you feel about ketchup? That's basically all sugar. Last edited by Lanfear; 07-10-2019 at 03:11 PM. |
