re: the poll

I've been trying to schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist for a while now, with my shitty insurance, in order to be diagnosed. So I'll wait until I do to answer.

Kevin is amazing and I absolutely recommend getting the Risk book

It's nice short stories that are fun to read one or two if if you have a little time waiting for a train or just need a mental break to learn that your life isn't that bad

I took a half-semester off from university due to my undiagnosed depression and anxiety. In that time I went from never have gone to councilling to going twice a week as well as being put on antidepression medication and being diagnosed with ADHD. I had gone basically the entirety of my schooling undiagnosed because I was smart enough to get by even with my lack of focus. Really was a game-changer in both my schooling and everyday life to be medicated for ADHD.

I got diagnosed with ADD/ADHD as a kid. I guess it was accurate because the meds they put me on were pretty effective. Sure I'd pay attention in school and do my homework, but I didn't care about any of that stuff; I was a drama geek and it felt like I was acting through this thick net that the meds kept me under. It was creativity crushing which made me miserable so I stopped taking them.

Now as an adult I talked to my doctor about going back on meds. He said that I'd have to go to weeks of therapy I can't afford with a shrink an hour away before I could maybe get a prescription. Oh well.

I was diagnosed when I was in kindergarten with ADD. I was on Ritalin for almost 20 years. I feel like it did a number on my psyche. I was super insecure, shy, socially awkward. When I got off of it that got much better. I still have ADD but I’ve learned how to better manage it without medications. I’m lucky though because not all people with ADD can do that.
