I think they've talked about this on the show, but there are a ton of everyday products that have animal byproducts in them so chances are you're consuming animal-based materials even when you think you aren't. The first ones that come to mind are toothpaste and gelatin. A lot of makeup has animal byproducts in it as well--this isn't merely that they're tested on animals, the products are in the makeup itself. And imagine how many bugs we accidentally consume when they're mashed up in food or crawl into our mouths at night. Eek!

I think that animals rights groups who work toward more humane ways of killing meat animals are on the right track. The PETA folks who think that even owning a pet is evil are just dumbasses. The public at large is NOT going to stop eating meat. Period.
