3386: The History of Stand-Up w/ Wayne Federman

Wayne joins the fun to talk about basketball legend Pistol Pete Maravich, the history of stand-up comedy, and how to hear what women are saying anywhere and anytime. The gang talks about agnostics, atheists, and self-help, as well as parental and relationship problems. And Chemda saw Taxi Driver.

I really liked the show.
Wayne got the tone of the show and was great.
Hope we hear him again.

Best new guest in a while. Wayne was fantastic. He settled right in and seemed to have a good time.

Best new guest!

Had to double check that he was new because you all felt like old pals. Love a guest whose shine makes Chemda and Keith shine and Vice Versa, like a never ending exchange of spotlight if that makes sense... You were all bright shining stars. A+

Apia resurrected 03-21-2021 02:59 AM

And I would also think Chemda liked the movie clueless.
Its from the 90ties, its funny and about relationships.

I would think it was more a Chemda movie than the hilarious spotlight movie.

I watched a new movie yesterday!
Ok it was with my kids but I liked it a lot.
Raya the last dragon on Disney plus. Its really sweet and exciting and doesn't
Even have a love interest for the princess. She can just do her thing and have friends.

I couldn't agree more! Wayne gets it. He would be a GREAT player for Silent Trailers. Big film buff. I once heard him list every Best Picture winner from the first Oscars to the most recent. (On Never Not Funny). I think he would really get a kick out of watching Chemda describe the trailers. He has a really great sense of humor, IMO.

So, let me get this straight. A guy that's a COMEDY historian comes on the Keith and the Girl show, is joked with, has no idea that anything being said is a joke, has no idea who Keith or Chemda are and expects a good reception?

Plus, you guys obviously researched him very well, which magnified the fact that he knew nothing about you both. How can he possibly know nothing about you both when he WROTE about you?

Best new guest? Pssshaw.

You must have listened to a different show than I did. I thought he was funny, interesting and I don't recall him seeming ignorant of Keith or Chemda. I mean many guests who have been on many times can't pronounce Chemda's name correctly but he did. I think he was great.

Apparently. There have been worse, that's for sure.

Best new guest? Pssshaw.

I also found him combative. Glad to see I wasn't alone.

Hadn’t he written about Chemda and Keith as a part of the new comedy movement? I remember them saying thank you for mentioning us or so.

So he knew exactly who they were...or did dream that part?

Yes. He did. Hard stop there. What else did he know? Keith was spouting, 6 kids, divorce, Chemda knew he grew up Jewish. What did he know? Not that Chemda also grew up Jewish. Was practically SHOCKED when someone knew as much as him on self-help books. Actually, Chemda knew MORE! Had no idea when Keith was making a joke. Did he forget that he was on a comedy podcast? I assume he included them for a reason. Was it not for comedy? Did he ever look at their website ONCE? Because if he did, he might have known that Keith has some beef with his dad. I mean, there's an entire section of the website devoted to it.

So he put them in his personal Hall of Fame. Did he do so begrudgingly or with some actual forethought? Or was it because someone told him he should? Because it sure didn't seem to be his idea.

I am not so invested in him to defend him here. For me. It was fine.
Im not sure what the level of preparation is Chemda and Keith normally get. We had guests with way less. The one guy who was too secretive to say that „ she was that kind of girl“ meant pretty. He had no idea who C and K were and was disrespectful. Here, it worked for me.

For sure, there have been worse. Just weird that he comes on as if he knows about them and then knows almost nothing. That’s why it struck me.

I can see that.
Also I found him entertaining and interesting.
But maybe Covid made me mild. Something is not a pandemic and I’m happy!
But no. I’m still bitchy to Mr Apia sometimes and isn’t so bad.
