Hillbilly Elegy was a hard watch. there were moments i paused to give myself time to sob. another must watch if you like that kind of thing is Junebug, also starring Amy Adams. it makes more sense if you’re from a similar place; there’s a lot said with the silences in the room and weight of the air between characters. the level of detail in the sets are viscerally on point.
that being said, i do not like the word hillbilly. it’s never said nice. geographically, growing up in the foothills, it applies to me, but i don’t appreciate folks using it. it’s usually followed by a big jackass guffaw and an incest joke. |
Agreements
I feel like this doesn't have anything to do with the show but a book was brought up at the end. I was interested. Got it. Read it. I love it. Wow it's good.

this is the first time the dog Keith complained about was actually audible

It’s pretty cool how Chemda and Keith and make talking about the transition stuff and make it funny and not offensive.
I think only few can do it. Most would shy away from the conversation or say something ignorant. |
Wow, what an awesome show and awesome new guest! Rhea felt so natural and fit into the vibe of the show so well. They’ve got to be a top contender to win “best new guest”.
Instead of resolving to simply being an “and”, I’ve heard “Ladies, Gentleman, and friends BEYOND the binary” used as a pretty epic inclusive greeting. Great show as always! |

And it sounds somehow sweet. |
Sounds like Benny needs baseball reframed a bit; there are many excellent lessons on persevering through failure. The best players fail around 70% of the time. Unless you're the A's, our players fail around 80% of the time. Disaster team at a disaster stadium, truly a miracle I love the sport.
