I think I hear what you are saying.

On the other hand I don't see how using a term from the south somehow conflates to appropriation of some "asshole, backwoods idiots". There are plenty of southerners that are good people, you included, Rod and Karen come to mind and other people here on the forums. I've seen no shortage of assholes here in "the north" flying confederate flags and it's not like the KKK doesn't exist up here.

I'm not trying to deny what your saying, I'm saying I don't follow, I appreciate your passion and would like to understand your point better.

I guess another way to look at or phrase it is “how ironic that an area infamous for rampant racism and aversion to breaking traditional norms, even at the expense of inclusion of other, non-traditional lifestyles, has, in fact, all along been using inclusive language in this one very narrow use-case that other dialects seem to have trouble expressing.”

As a southerner, y’all have all my permission to use our slang, celebrate the great parts of our culture, and criticize the areas we can still improve and progress. If you want to think of me as a backwoods idiot, that’s your business and no skin off my back. I try not to invest much energy into randos uninformed opinions of me, my culture, or my lifestyle.
