My husband is a fireman on two different departments. I can not wait for the vaccine mandates to be put in place. He has several coworkers on each shift threatening to quit over it. These men have been fire fighters for their whole career, what are they thinking they are going to transition into for work?? My hubby has had many very heated (heh) arguments and debates about this subject and other politics are work, and now is known as a "snowflake" on his shift. Oh well, health care workers who don't believe in science need to go. They deal with patients daily. I know this is not true everywhere, but the 2 cities where he works the firemen are both firefighters and paramedics. They run medical calls all day on the ambulance, including COVID patients. And yet, they won't be told what to do, even to protect themselves and their families.

Saw an actual Nazi at Walgreens about 2 weeks ago. I was at the register, heard really loud boots going past me, went to look and it had the whole nazi eagle and swastika on there... shiny and new. Skinhead looking guy had more nazi tattoos on his neck and arms.

He didn't steal toilet paper but wtf is going on in these drug stores lately...

Surprisingly, $100 of toilet paper isn’t that much. It’s about a buck a roll these days, $100 gets you maybe 120 rolls of the cheap stuff or 50 rolls of asshole-caressing quilted bullshit. Shit’s literally getting more expensive every day.

Guardianship and power of attorney are NOT automatic upon marriage. Guardianship is a legal matter to determine if the person is unable to make their own decisions and needs someone to do so for them for their safety ie Britney Spears. This is a safe guard to make sure that people aren’t just taking over their spouse’s affairs in abusivr relationships. Guardianship is very serious and if he gets it, you guys wouldn’t have any say in her medical treatment or financial affairs.

I’m honestly surprised that the nursing home took her without guardianship in place. Where I am at many places will not accept someone if they have dementia and don’t have a guardian in place because many want to leave. Technically they can’t keep someone against their will unless they have been deemed unable to make their decisions which is what a guardianship does. Surprisingly-he’s not lying about needing this.

I came here to echo this. I actually suspect he's doing this so he can sell the house. Assuming your parents own it jointly, he can't sell her portion without this (since she's not competent to sell it herself). Keith - if you and your siblings actually are interested in trying to get him to sell the house for a high price and avoid the shady deal with the squatter, this is a chance to gum up the sale. You could all go in together to hire a lawyer to oppose the guardianship on your behalf because he doesn't actually have your mother's best interests in mind when he's selling the house for below market price to a shady squatter (his "precious" word notwithstanding).
