Some kind of comedy podcast! I kid, I kid. These emotional, personal episodes are so real and I really want to thank Keith and Chemda for NEVER shying away from the hard topics. And thank you to Betsy for sharing your story. I am so sorry you had to go through it three times, but your second sounds soul-shattering. I think everyone that shares their abortion story is so brave and to do it in this kind of climate is especially important. Thank you, thank you, thank you to both you and Jack for opening up and trusting us.

That was a tough listen. I was in tears.
Having gone through grueling IVF we have our share of stories but nothing this heart-rending. I have friends who experienced something more similar and i don't know how they got through it (but they did)!

This show broke me - I cried. Thank you for sharing such a deeply personal story on here and for highlighting a small fraction of how wide an affect this has on all of the people in your country. Australia is heavily influenced by the US and I worry that this will happen here too.

How did you get here?

By people who said voting for Democrats is the same as voting for Republicans or not at all.

I immediately had the thoughts about murder Jack had even before him so you see how my brain works.

Especially when you hear Betsy‘s story, her decision was pro life. In the good way!

Feels a little leading

I couldn’t stop thinking about this story. And I want to say-abortion is an act of love. And act of love for your child and yourself-which women have been trained to always put themselves last. To always feel guilt even if it isn’t their fault.

In this case it was for their children. So many people are so concerned about bringing kids into this world without even considering QUALITY of life. I often have this conversation in my job due to being in geriatrics… but it seems to be missed when you are talking about children. This baby wouldn’t have had a good quality of life from day one-not being able to be touched, being severely restricted. And three other kids would have to die in order for it to receive the necessary heart transplants-and hoping it doesn’t reject. People think life is good for everyone no matter what. I can tell you that definitely isn’t the case. I’m a foster parent and have seen and heard horror stories. My foster son was shaken when he was 2 months old and had numerous medical issues that had extremely painful treatments. It broke me having to give him injections that made him swell three times his size and made him absolutely miserable. And it didn’t even fucking work. Luckily-the next $10,000 treatment did, which we didn’t have to pay for but the state did.

What the Supreme Court did is just so fucking cruel it is so hard not to weep every single day.

This is from a long time ago, but I kind of like that the Republicans are going full on with all of this and a few high end republicans who have had these stories buried, are all going to come back to the surface.

BTW, this January 6th stuff on the peetape twitter account is bananas.

It appears that they just conjured this stuff up out of thin air as they couldn't believe they lost.

It's so brave of Betsy to share that difficult story. I was doing yardwork this morning while listening and the only reason I didn't cry was by channeling my emotions into swinging a pickaxe. Conservative Christians think this issue is simple and it's so far from that. Biology, embryology, and life itself is far too complex for broad sweeping legislation, especially when done on behalf of an imaginary god. Thank you Betsy!

I thought about it. Pro birth is better but still too nice.
The good side should be pro ( reproductive) freedom. The other side should be called anti freedom.
I'm in sales. The message of your opponent needs to be a be a negative one.
Freedom sounds very American. Anti freedom brings up fear. Good.

Thank you Betsy for sharing your story. Anti-Abortion people want things to be simple and not put in effort, so they de-humanize people and label them as bad people who deserve their circumstances. That way they don't have to feel bad and there's no hard work to be done. It's very hard, but your story helps fight that mentality.

It is so frustrating. A dead body has more rights. You can't take a dead person's organs without their permission even if it would save another life.

Barney Frank said conservatives believe "life begins at conception and ends at birth."
