Keith, this is a real wisdom piece. It's also worth asking oneself what do I really enjoy and what I just think I would enjoy?
Sometimes you are over a thing and still do it out of habit. Maybe you don't love that friend anymore so much and would rather spend the time alone reading. |

Another example. You had fun drinking alcohol in the past. But when you really wondered how much you still enjoy it now you noticed that it made your life worse and had the motivation to stop.
People who never ask themselves if they still enjoy drinking always look for the good feeling they had in the past with it and never stop. Because they still think drinking is fun even if they stopped to be. Of course there is still the physical addition but at first there must be the wish for change. Or overeating. I used to have the problem with eating after dinner like at 11pm because I thought it helped me calm down. When I talked about it in therapy and realized that it made me feel bad in the morning I could stop and loose some weight by that. And feel better in the mornings.
