I never heard about the "kill yourself" thing. I was introduced to the terminology "died by suicide" as an alternative to "committed suicide." Either way it does feel a bit like shifting terminology in a way that won't really accomplish anything. And maybe at some point we'll update this terminology as well to try to avoid the stigma that always follows language changing.

I'd like people saying I committed suicide because it's something that I accomplished. I don't want people thinking just ONE MORE THING happened to Keith. No. I earned it!

That puts a spin on "lack of commitment."

I think language can help destimatize things, but you're right that a stigma can follow the language changing. I think it's someone trying to say mental illness is a disease and just like any disease, it's the disease that ultimately kills you. Baby steps, maybe? But sometimes the baby can also be an asshole.

once again, i voted before finishing the episode, i paused as soon as keet said he heard something new about his pops. an absolute shiver went up to my spine and i was quite surprised about how excited i was.
i decided to come straight to the forums, i haven't worked since September of 2016, i was really only on the forums sitting at my desk pretending to work.
trying to log in on my Pixel5A using Chrome was a no-go, so i went over to DuckDuckGo. many betters

Mr Musk is enjoying this tremendously, potentially cashing in on the shorts, being 'in on it'. he has fully embraced the far right and is enjoying this chaos. #ownthelibs

I think that's the point but the getting rid of a stigma is harder than changing words. So we just keep changing words. Not knocking it really. It's just how it is.

Why would anyone want to get rid of the stigma of killing yourself?
