Congratulations on 18 years! I appreciate you for all the laughs over the years, and particularly for having me laughing and keeping my spirits up while working in healthcare during the pandemic.

Keith is 115% correct about the response to the spatula burns.

Chemda and Mike get weighed down w/ their social therapy background and seem to miss the urgency point. Their approach may be best for if Keith's girl had called and complained that she "feels fat" that day (which is ridiculous, she is smoke show) or something that was an emotional support call not a "my fucking hand hurts" think for me cuz i'm in pain call.

It drives me crazy this default position of appealing to authority. If your not a doctor there is no possible way you could ever know anything or help anyone ever. Especially after the last few years of experience, I woulda thought we learned better than this logical fallacy.

Keith is correct here. He is trying to make a point specifically about the spatula situation while Chemda is trying to look at all types of situation.

Keith even said that if Kyle had come home and said something like “ugh I got into an argument with someone at the office” he wouldn’t have said “what you need to do is march in there and tell her that you won’t take her shit anymore”.

Keith, as a human that exists in the world, has experience with aches and pains and burns. He is able to give advice about a burn if the other person doesn’t seem to know how to handle it.

Ok but, regarding burns....

A weird trick that I learned that somehow works is putting mustard on a burn.

Probably not like a 3rd degree spatula melter, but when i had near-boiling water spilled on my hand, sitting with yellow mustard on it for a bit really surprisingly took the pain away.

But Keith is right about this specific situation...

Why is she calling YOU about this? This isn't rhetorical. There's an actual burn emergency where maybe she panicked and didn't know what to do, so the logical keith-response "go to the hospital" seems like it would be the right response. This isn't the moment to feelings-talk about a burnt hand or vent about it. Deal with the INJURY that is an emergent problem.

A little while back I heard someone say "all unsolicited advise is criticism" and frankly, that is very true. Ever since I heard that I have tried to avoid giving unsolicited advice. And it's pretty hard - it's a very instinctual response.

That said, yeah, Keith is absolutely right in this instance. It sounded like an emergency and Keith's response was entirely correct. This wasn't "unsolicited advice", this was a response to an emergency. To compare it to the usual "guys don't listen, they just want to give advice" situation is ridiculous.

Harry Potter

Objectum Sexuality sounds like a spell Harry Poooter cast at Voldemort, in Book Pooo. Harry swings his wand up and says "Objectum Ssssexxxualllltittyy" with a flash. Voldemort screams as his penis turns inside out. Harry shifts is weight has some poo falls down his pant leg.

I find myself agreeing with both sides of the argument. Maybe I’m greedy mfer, but I can’t get the emotional support with a side of practical advice (or do I want the advice as the main course )

*insert cute little Latina girl “why not both” meme*
