So "ninth grade" can refer to lesbian experimentation or public social immaturity? Or does the latter include the former?
I'm trying to keep up with Patrice's colloquialisms, but it's like a lot of Native American languages where one word can mean too many different things. |

hey keith - that heman girl who turns into a bird is not Teela but the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull
The Sorceress is the mother of Teela http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorcere...stle_Grayskull ..."The Sorceress possesses a vast array of magical and spellcasting abilities, and is considered the most powerful magic-wielder on modern Eternia.[citation needed] Some spells she performs on a regular basis, including transforming into her alternate form known as Zoar the falcon."... scuse us while we geek out long live the 80's! |

Though I'm kinda with you. Keeping up with the colloquialisms and tings are tough sometimes. I've actually been thinking about starting from the beginning again. Some people have the ability to hear something once and never forget it. These are the people that totally understand every host, guest, forum member and active listener inside and out (at least based on what's come out thus far). I don't have that ability so while I tend to get most of the inside jokes and references, I hear someone like Josh the Jew bring up Charlie keeping money in his socks and I go "Oh yeah! I forgot about that!" that reaction happens a lot with me. I'll remember when it's referenced but I can't seem to remember on my own.

watching a friend spiral hoplessly out of control
Just like many others, I had a best friend in High School that I slowly lost touch with through the College/University years, and beyond. I got married, had my first child, had a steady job... and then I got a phone call from my friends' Brother. He called to warn me that my friend had gotten into drugs and had stolen money from friends, family, and worse in order to support his habit.
I've always felt bad for never extending a helping hand to my friend. But the reality was that (at the time) I had a budding career, a new family (with another child on the way) and I just couldn't bring myself to put that into harms way by getting "involved" with a guy that I'd lost touch with so long ago, and had obviously spun way, way out of control. My friend has since sobered up and we've e-mailed, spoken on the phone, and I even took my family to see him perform live at a coffee shop about a month ago (yes, he's a musician). Obviously our friendship is nowhere near what it once was; we are both very different people now, with completely opposite lives. Truth be known, if we met for the first time in a social setting today, I probably wouldn't like him much. I'm sure the feeling is mutual. Does anyone else have their own "watching a friend spiral hoplessly out of control" story to tell?
