Update from Nick Starr
Drew and I just got off the phone with Nick Starr. He is ok and is getting help. He thanks everyone for all their positive well wishes and asks that you will respect his privacy right now as he works through a difficult time.

Please have patience, more information will come as the situation progresses, just know that he is safe and unharmed.

You can continue to send Nick your love and support HERE.

Take care of each other.

Love, Dawn and Drew
I knew it...

Look at all the trouble he's caused...

When I was 15 I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that got into my spinal cord. I was told that a) I'd never walk again and b) that I'd never get it up - at all.

I seriously considered ending it all, in fact I planned it and even got to the roof of the hospital I was in and prepared to roll the wheelchair off the building. I didn't (obviously) and rolled back to my hospital bed.

After my surgery to remove the tumour, I was lying in my bed unable to move for several weeks. One day I was assigned an extremely hot, blonde nurse who offered to give me a wash in bed. I actually said "whatever..." such was my dark mood and my rampant desire to end it all. Until she actually began washing me...

Well Hello Sailor!! My little 'pooky' stood to attention the moment that angel leaned over me and I copped a gorgeous view of those two perky little funster's inside the cutest little lace bra I'd ever seen. I coouldn't decide whether to be embarrassed or fucking elated for the fact that it worked! Suffice to say that all thoughts of suicide flew well out the window at that stage.

Cut to a number of years later - I'm walking despite some permanent numbness in my left leg and curiously - one side of my schlong - but it works - WELL!!

I'm a nurse myself. I entered the profession not so much out of any altruistic desire to care and contribute but moreso for the chance to chase some choice tail!

If someone that was a pretend friend of mine pretended to kill himself and then I had to pretend to care about him and have all my pretend friends say nice things about him, when I found out that he was just pretending to get attention, I would kick his mutha effing ass! I am sure that Nick has problems and that this was some sort of sick pretend cry for help.

I will say that Nick STarr may be the ONE person that could benefit from Elton Johns' 'turn off the interweb' plan.

When hopelessness drives a man to take his life, he loses sight of alternative solutions.

That's when the depression and despair become so great that they just want to - in a very permanent sense - go to sleep. They're emotionally worn out, weary. They've given up and can't see past today.

They walk the streets thinking even the most downtrodden are better off than them. They scorn every one else's problems as petty, thinking that only their problems are truly devastating.

They are men in pain who believe they can withstand any form of pain other than the one they have. That their pain is unbearable. That they are hopeless.

They look out the window and think, "Just a small step and I'll be free."

They are tragic victims of their circumstances and states of mind.

A killer who does so because of his upbringing is tragic. And those who he kills have had a tragedy fall upon them - far greater than the killer - for they may be hapless victims who but for random chance, died that day.

But just as not every suicide is done out of despair, not every murder is driven by their personal demons. Some fuckers are outright sociopaths.

And note that the tragedy needs not be one-sided. Both the victim and the perpetrator can be seen as tragic victims, each with it's own perspective.

Nor am I saying that suicide is not equally tragic for the ones left behind. In fact, I agree with you - suicide is probably far more devastating for them.

The dead, after all, cease to suffer. It's the living who continue on in pain.
It sounds exhausting, caring so much about everyone and their respective circumstances and states of mind. And it was exhausting, reading all that. But I suppose what this amounts to is the word "tragedy" in all its forms is just overused and has thus lost any meaning it might have had to me. So maybe things that should qualify are getting ignored. Which is tragic.
