Compulsory service would make sense to me if we trusted our 'leaders' to be judicious in the use of our armed services. As it is, I fear that they would begin wars at the drop of a hat, knowing that they had all the young people at their disposal to do their bidding.

I'm not sure I'd describe Ian as right wing. He's more right wing in some ways than left I guess. But he really doesn't fit into the right wing group. He definitely isn't extreme right wing, that would be fascist, he definitely isn't fascist at all.
He wants to destroy all government. So maybe the closest term is anarchist (or maybe libertarian socialism) which isn't really right or left wing.

compulsory service does not mean only military service. it means national service of all kinds. helping old people, picking trash, there could be a million programs the government can develop as long as we have ready and available manpower.

these programs would probably be more cost effective and would achieve a better allocation of our tax dollars.

Gunner and Deuce, you both rock, thank you for your service, you are very much appreciated. I loved the show last night, Deuce, way to show those FTL idiot motherfuckers what's what.

@Gunner: Good luck over there, I'm going in as soon as highschool's over maybe through ROTC or just enlisting, but I'm going in. Best of wishes to you.

True -- not all slaves were out picking cotton, some got to clean in the mastah's house and some even got to serve dinner!

Hey Deuce!

Yes, I would think some mandatory CIVIL duties might be appropriate (working in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, etc.). However, I feel that required MILITARY service in this country would very likely be abused by our misguided 'leaders.'

P.S. I always liked you on KATG for your entertainment value, but your conduct on the radio with those guys showed you are more than just a funny guy. Way to go, Deuce!

Aren't hospitals and nursing homes both "for profit" services? Why force someone to serve a business. If you go that route, you might as well force people to work at McDonalds. Now if I work at a hospital for 2 years and they cut me a break on my $20,000 in medical bills later in life...I may be less upset.

Hospitals and nursing homes are not necessarily "for profit". Although some are this isn't a universal truth.
