What applebucks was talking about is making an Enhanced Podcast. It allows chaptering, remembering play position when returning to the episode, and displaying album art for each chapter of the ep.
The main problem is not only is it a bitch in the technical details from a podcast producer's point of view, but it is also a proprietary Apple format, so people not using iTunes or an iPod cannot use them. Which means an MP3 feed still needs to be provided for everyone else. If anyone has the tools (GarageBand etc) to make M4A/M4B files, make a katg ep and see what us forum members think. Enhanced Podcasts are cool, but unless there's a fandangle file builder out there, it's far to complicated to produce them than it should be. |

Problem is both the KATG crew and myself (and whole bunch of others too) are on PCs, not macs, and can't use GarageBand. Audacity cannot export to M4A.
I heard people exporting from Audacity as AIFF/WAV and using iTunes built-in converter to write to M4A. Problem is it doesn't support chaptering this way. Anyone else know a PC free Enhanced Podcast builder? |
