all my years of catholic school came up from the depths of my soul and clutched my heart for a moment when I realized that he ripped the rosary.
it took me a couple of seconds to remember that I am not catholic anymore and I dont believe those beads can do any magics. flipping hilarious. |

The story about the croupier at the casino reminded me of a family friend who worked at a casino for 25 years. He was on the roulette night after night.
After he retired he admited to me that he could direct where the ball will land. He obviously was not always spot on but he could be very close... When a customer was tipping heavy, he tried to help him out, thus increasing his tips. Management observing through cameras were always sure that nobody wins too much, so he couldn't risk too much... Casino employees are usually barred from going into Casino's around the world, however this guy was on a holiday in North Africa, and managed to get into a Casino... He placed the bet, observing the speed of the ball and won on the first hand, he tipped the croupier half his winning, and by the end of the night he walked out with $15K..... and so did the croupier.....

...and Omega Man was a remake of the 1964 movie "The Last Man on Earth" with Vincent Price, and all three are based on the Richard Matheson novel "I Am Legend". Of the three, the first film is closest to the book in tone and story, although some elements of the current film are pretty close as well. I'm pretty sure Will Smith's pull-up bar, "look at my pecs" routine wasn't in the novel, but I don't have the book in front of me. Basically, what the new version does is rip the book a new arsehole. I'm not usually one of those people who insists the book is always better than the movie, or that the "original version" of the movie was better, but in this case it's true. The ending of this version is a cheap shot, and in typical modern Hollywood fashion, they have to blow things up and trot out god. I read any comments by the author on the film as yet, but I'm willing to bet that he's getting spinning room built into his funeral plot. If you can handle b&w film and the absence of CGI and Will Smith's patter, it's really worth checking out the Vincent Price version of this story. Or even better, read the book.
